Objective

I'm here to help individuals and start-ups get their ideas off the ground to a point where they can confidently approach manufacturers with a complete product package, including pattern, toile, and tech-pack. I can fit the garment with you and help you learn about construction. I can also explain the production process, so you're equipped with the language and understanding, enabling you to communicate with suppliers and manufacturers more clearly.

Alternatively, if you're a sewer yourself and simply want help to draft body blocks or patterns for you and your family, I can certainly do that.

Credentials

My creative strength and technical capabilities allow me to assist my clients in taking their ideas from concept to finished article. Together we can generate a product that is ultra-wearable and commercially sound.

For 15 years I have worked in the garment industry, in both the UK and Australia. I started in a small CMT (Cut, Make, Trim) unit, where I was a production assistant. I cut, sewed, laid fabric and pressed. I overlocked, made the tea and stitched a lot buttonholes! I learnt how to break the seemingly enormous garment production task down into just a series of simple operations.

Next, I wanted to use more of my creativity and was lucky enough to find work at a couture house where I became the studio manager. The dresses here were excessive in their extravagance and took months to make, focusing on every minute detail. I have since worked in Bridal, red-carpet, and high-street fashion. I have experience in machining, pattern making, garment tech, QA, and design, as in the old-school pencil-to-paper type!

Now engaged at Apparel Collective, I enjoy the broad scope of work that comes through as the market shifts and trends compel. From niche sports and activewear to sleepwear, outerwear and random projects!
